DETAILS & POTENTIAL PLOT ARCS
- The canon history for Phaedra is up to you to modernize, but it is important to note that Phaedra was once a naive and gentle-spirited woman prior to her marriage to Theseus.
- Her relationship with Minotauros was short-lived, but she is aware that he existed and did spend time with him before he had been thrown into the labyrinth. Despite the demonization of Tauros that occurred after this and Phaedra believing it, she still had a difficult time with Theseus parading Tauros' head around. She saw it as disrespectful.
- She did love Theseus at first, this is a must. Reasons why are up to you, but he's known to be charming.
- She was cursed the same time her mother had been cursed. Why is again up to you. This is why she fell in love with her step-son.
- They had an affair and it resulted in her becoming pregnant with his child. Theseus found out and killed his son and a pregnant Phaedra.
- Post-death, Hera decided to punish Phaedra further for her infidelity with a familial tie, as well as committing infanticide (even though she didn't kill the unborn) and resurrected her as an amalgamation of herself and a buck, stating that if she wanted to act like a male she may as well be one. This curse was tethered to her menstrual cycle as the coinciding punishment for "killing" her unborn.
- Phaedra was unable to kill Theseus for his actions against her because her mother already had.
- The rose-coloured lens of her past self were removed and she saw the misogynistic and patriarchal world for what it was. Keep in mind that she also was raised in a household ruled by a chauvinistic asshole, and also saw the strength and decorum her mother had slowly diminish over time because of this.
- Resentment grew over the years and she has gradually become more and more of a maneater (literally and figuratively) over the centuries.
- Her current location is up to you, but I have the idea of her and Tauros reuniting at some point - I think it would be especially interesting if they were to meet while she was in her creature state and he was not, since neither would recognize each other (she only knows him as the Minotaur, not a man). I want her to get mixed in with Lyssa, however, and really dig her heels into a villain era. Of course, she wouldn't be aware that Lyssa holds her brother in mental chains until much later. There is potential for Lyssa v. Phaedra to happen later on as she tries to assist in freeing Tauros from the deity's grasp.
