general info
// PROTOGENOI
The protogenoi are the creators of the universe, put simply. These are the gods and goddesses who represent the basic components of the universe as it was created [i.e. time, night, day,...]. These gods are also immortal - they are the definition of unkillable - and can control everything within their element, and much beyond.
Things to note:
Things to note:
- Khaos, the prime protogenoi, is the creator of all things. She is not a playable character and cannot be interacted with. Think of her as the matter of the universe - she is the DNA of creation. As such, this plane of existence is referred to as The Realm of Khaos.
- The protogenoi are miniscule in number - very few have existed and newer protogenoi are extraordinarily rare.
- Please remember when playing protogenoi that while they are all powerful, it is still against the site rules to power-play another character without express permission from the other players.
// TITANS
From the protogenoi came both the first deities and then the titans. The Titans were the original rulers of the earth, giant beings that roamed with impunity. They were the original gods, though they held more power than the average gods. Titans are named so due to their involvement in the Titanomachy - the war that branded and changed them into great beings. Please note: though there are more than the original twelve titans, none were created after the Titanomachy, as it was the war that gave them their titles and powers.

// OLYMPIANS
Olympians are gods who have been blessed by Mount Olympus. Many who are born there receive this blessing outright - it strengthens a god's skin to become nearly impenetrable and adorns them with a base skill set of powers they might have otherwise not had access to. Like the titans, there were twelve original Olympians, but Olympus has given many blessings since then.
Things to note:
Things to note:
- Olympians are considered royalty among the immortals, regardless of where they currently live.
- All Olympians have a base set of abilities: they all teleport in some sort of fashion and have incredible strength, speed, beauty, and grace. When one thinks of divinity, it is usually an Olympian to which their mind travels.
- Only gods and creatures may become Olympians - mortals, deities, and demi-gods are not eligible for the blessings, and neither titans nor protogenoi would benefit from the title.
// GODS
The gods and goddesses of Greek mythology are practically limitless. These are the minor gods that didn't make the cut for anything that was mentioned above. They are the second most common type of immortal, as their domains fall under every known category under the sun. The main features that separate a god from a deity is this: while a deity embodies their domain and is known to consistently struggle with being overpowered by their abilities, gods simply preside over the concepts they relate to. While they are in charge and can control their domains, it is less common for a god to be overpowered by their abilities because they are less genetically involved with their areas of power.

// DEMI-GODS
Though not the most abundant type of immortal, demigods are the ones most often seen by mortals, as they most often intermingle with them. Demigods are extraordinarily common, as gods like to intermingle and it usually takes at least two generations of mortal blood to erase the divine ichor in a family's bloodline. There are two types of demigods, those who were born into the blood and deified mortals (similar to but not quite the same as those in the deity category).
Types of Demi-God:
Types of Demi-God:
- Born Blessed
- The children of other gods, creatures, deities, and even other demigods are here. All it takes is one mortal parent, and there will be enough dilution in the ichor that the resulting child will be a demi-god.
- Some demi-gods have immortal lifespans, some live extended lives, and others still live the same duration as any average human. It is impossible to determine how long a demi-god will live (unless a Moriae has revealed it).
- The children of other gods, creatures, deities, and even other demigods are here. All it takes is one mortal parent, and there will be enough dilution in the ichor that the resulting child will be a demi-god.
- Deified Mortals (1/3)
- Similar to the deified mortals in the deity category, these are mortals who have been blessed by a powerful god or goddess to live an immortal life with an additional divine skillset. The difference between a deity and a demi-god here is simple: deified mortals who have died will return as deities, and those who are deified before their death assume the title of demi-god.

// CREATURES
Creatures, beasts, and monsters are common occurrences in these lands. These creatures can walk the earth or stay within their element most of the time [i.e. chimera is a fire-breather so he'd be most comfortable in the underworld]. It is possible, and recommended, for your creature to have the ability to shape-shift into a human form. There are several sub-sets of creatures, mostly determined by how they are connected to their forms.
Types of creatures:
Types of creatures:
- True Creatures
- Cerberus and other creatures who are born in these forms as their natural state are considered true creatures. They were meant to live their lives in static forms. Many of these creatures have been given human forms in the Olonomachy and must be sided with a kingdom that could have granted them this form.
- Shifters
- Shifters are creatures who have always possessed the ability to shift (whether they were aware of it or not) into a form that, typically, is still human-esque. Sirens, nymphs, and werewolves are good examples of shifters.
- Spiritual Familiars
- Spiritual familiars are essentially deities with a creature form. They are born and naturally inhabit their ‘mortal’ forms, but are considered so intrinsically connected with an animal or creature form of some sort that they can leap into it. These types of creatures do not have to be sided in the war to have access to either one of their forms.

// DEITIES
Deities are the most common type of divine being, as they come in many varieties. Typically, these are the personifications and spirits of human emotions and conditions - they're abstract ideas [i.e. fear, soul, happiness, etc]. They can also be individuals who have passed on and have been stuck in the underworld to do specific deeds or tasks, and they might also be divine beings with spiritual connections to specific animals, plants, locations, etc. In terms of power structure, deities have the widest breadth: some sit as powerful as titans, while others hold no more power than a minor demi-god.
Types of deities:
Types of deities:
- Otherworldly Deities
- When making the universe, components of other realms and planes of existence were pulled into Khaos to create new and exciting concepts. From that creation blooms an otherworldly deity, who stands as the representative of that realm.
- Personifications
- Personification Deities are those who represent ideals or emotions: rage, trickery, jealousy, etc. Many personifications are duplicated, and it is common to have hundreds of deities preside over one subject. Typically, these deities are given sustenance by the dominion simply existing in the world, and they work the ensure whatever it is they personify thrives.
- Deified Mortals (2/3)
- Mortals who have died and been returned to life are often turned into deities. They are spiritual creatures more than physical ones at this point, and are usually assigned to a new duty: some become Keres, others become Oneroi, while some find new domains to nestle within.

// MORTALS
The average Joe Schmoe - as the name implies, they are the humans, possibly even heroes. Mortals possess no abilities natural to them and have typical lifespans you would expect ot of your average person. However, since mortals and the divine so regularly interact, there are now subsets of mortal populations as well.
Types of mortals:
Types of mortals:
- True mortal
- No abilities, no nothing. Just a person.
- Deified Mortals (3/3)
- Deified mortals in this category have no genetic changes to them but benefit from divine abilities through blessings. These abilities can take the form of preserved lifespans, enhanced strength, mind control, etc. The important thing to note about this type of deified mortal is that their bestowed abilities are contingent on their relationship with whoever blessed them, and they can be revoked.
